Jeremy Irvine is back in the wars

It was only weeks ago that Jeremy Irvine was in similar military garb in War Horse. Jeremy is headed back to war as a young Colin Firth in The Railway Man.

Eric Lomax, who is played here by Irvine (the younger) and Colin Firth (the older) recounted his horrendous ordeal at the hands of Japanese WW2 forces in his acclaimed book The Railway Man.

Prior to the outbreak of war, the character was obsessed with railways. And we appear to be seeing that pre-war character here.

The book tells the story of Lomax’ capture by the Japanese and his subsequent suffering as a POW on the notorious Burma railroad, where a catalogue of atrocities were committed.

It’s a weighty part for Irvine to take on. And we love the match with Colin Firth, who certainly has a similar look. We’ll be keeping an eye on this prospect for 2013.
